Billy Strean

Billy Strean is an expert on experiential learning and applying laughter, humor, and playful movement to help people to be more engaged and have more fun, while producing extraordinary results in their work and play.

Billy received the University of Alberta’s prestigious Rutherford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. He has been teaching, coaching, and leading workshops for over 25 years. With a background as a teacher and NCAA athlete and coach, he went on for a doctorate in sport and exercise psychology at the University of Illinois. After being in school for way too long, Billy had pigeon-holed himself into a significant, but giggle-resistant life as an academic. With several years of specialized training he is now able to pump irony.

Billy’s speaking and workshops inspire participants to have greater joy, fun, play, and satisfaction in their lives. Dr. Strean’s high energy and engaging presentations are supported by a depth of education and experience working with and learning from some of the world’s top achievers in sport, business, education, performing arts, and medicine.

Dr. Strean is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor and author of The HoHo Dojo: Lighten Up and Love Life Laughing (New York: Random HAs).
